Deep, saturated ruby-garnet hue. Jammy blackberry and mineral aromas show lots of ripeness. A weighty entry leads a robust, full-bodied palate with supple tannins and very ripe fruit driven flavors. Lengthy, chocolatey finish. Drink now. (tasted on Jan-03-2007)
90% Petit Verdot / 10% 'Albie Romeo Old Vine' Clone Cabernet Sauvignon. I had intended to make a 100% Petit Verdot and it was nice. But it sang so much prettier when I added 10% of our 'Old Vine' Cabernet Sauvignon to it that we made it a 90/10. It is a feminine Petit Verdot! Denmon Moody tasted in August 2007 in Houston and said it was the best Petit Verdot he had tasted in 28 years! Only 315 cases made. $80~750ml, $45 ~ 375ml

The ripest and most opulent wine of the Sempre Vive trio from 2002, this sweet, mildly plummy effort is fit with juicy, cherry-like fruit that recalls a fine Merlot of the 19th Century, and it takes on added richness by way of its grippy tannins that come in at the finish to prove it is no push over.

Leaning slightly to ripeness and buttressed by lots of sweet oak, this very open, easy-to-taste wine is well filled with fairly deep black-cherry fruit and firmed with modest structural tannins. It is not in danger of fading away anytime soon, but it presents itself nicely right now and will make a thoroughly likeable partner to juicy steaks in the near term.
Sempre Vive Cabenet Sauvignon 1998 $95
1998 was an unusual season, but in our vineyard with its overhead water protection the late spring frost did no damage to our vines nor to our crop. It was a fantasy winter wonderland of iced-over chilliness but the fruit progressed more slowly than the 1997 vintage. The lovely Indian Summer of our Fall developed excellent flavors and our usual harvest brix of 23.5 was approaching by late October. 6-8 more weeks of hang time produced a full bodied, complex wine, with dark red color and a cassis fruit. It has been picked as a 1997 in 3 out of 4 blind tasting. It is that good! This was a very cool vintage year and has outdone out glorious 1997 and is still purple! We had frost in the vineyard and the clusters were completely encased in ice, losing no grapes and protecting them from damage. Harvest was not until November in 1998! Let this beauty breath for 24 to 36 hours and she will unfold and show her beauty and fruit, for a cool vintage year does not sh ow its fruit for a long time. Just starting to show now.
Sempre Vive Cabenet Sauvignon 1997 $100
